In summer of 2013, I made the decision that come New Year, I would move to London. It was something I thought about ever since I left my exchange semester abroad just the year before. Taking on two jobs, I saved up for the next six months and on January 5th, 2014, I hopped on an overnight flight from Toronto Pearson to London Heathrow, with two pieces of luggage, no job and no idea of what I was getting myself into. This is the start of the period in my life labelled, “The London Years”.
Fast forward to present day, where it has now been a little over a year since I took the plunge, I am sitting comfortably cross legged on the couch in my East London flat writing my first note for this blog. I debated having a blog for a very long time and although it crossed my mind here and there, it was only after I stumbled across this quote by Anais Nin that really got me thinking: “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.” With all that has transpired so far during The London Years and even looking back at my escapades from my exchange semester, I have decided to blog to taste life twice.
This will be the hub where I can revisit my adventures in the form of photos, videos and/or notes as well as to share my archive with anyone who may find interest from it. So stay tuned…
